THE Entrance's Aaron Alley can blame bad luck for his non-inclusion in the Australian Country side selected after the Australian Country Championships in Mount Gambier.
The classy opener averaged 38.25 in his three innings against other state sides, with a top score of 74 not out against South Australia, before a leg injury put him out of the series.
``I did it while fielding and it proved costly," Alley said.
``One more solid score and I feel I was a good chance of making the national side."
Representative teams from NSW, Queensland, Western Australia, Victoria, South Australia and the East Asian-Pacific competed at the championships.
Alley, 21, scored 100 last year in the final game of the country championships against Victoria.
He notched a stunning 162 in The Entrance's last-ball final loss to Kincumber last season.
All-rounder Jamie Doran will break the Umina Cricket Club's record for the most first-grade game appearances on Saturday.
Doran, 33, will break Dave Fraser's record. Fraser will join him for a few social drinks after the game at Umina Oval against Lisarow.
Doran will be playing his 214th first-grade match and is held in high esteem by Umina skipper Mark Cattley.
``Jamie is our leading wicket-taker to date this season and shows no signs of losing form," Cattley said.
``He's been among the pick of our players all season."
Kincumber's Mark Robertson has been selected in the NSW Country Colts team for the second successive year. He captained Central Coast in the recent Southern NSW Country Colts carnival at Goulburn.
Robertson, Mitchell Smith and Clint Higson were selected in the Southern NSW Country Colts team who played Northern NSW at Bathurst.
The NSW Country Colts will play the Sydney Youth XI at Coogee Oval on January 27-29.
Strike bowler Robertson took 4-96 in Kincumber's victory in the district first-grade final against The Entrance last year.
Doyalson, beaten outright by Terrigal in their previous match, are in a strong position to test premiers Kincumber in their resumed match at Doyalson on Saturday.
It was the only game to proceed on Saturday because of rain.
This weekend's round will be restricted to a 50-overs-a-side match.
Doyalson dismissed Kincumber for 210 and are 1-70.
Doyalson coach Brian Liddle said the covers had protected the wicket, although it had been slightly damp in the middle.
Medium-pacer Christian West took 3-30.
Kincumber skipper Shaun Robertson said his side would chase an unlikely win by claiming early wickets.
